Cody Rhodes recalls feeling ‘dead inside’ playing Stardust in WWE

WrestleMania 39 is just a few months away and Cody Rhodes is making the rounds on interviews to promote the event. In his latest interview on After The Bell, Rhodes opened up about his struggles during his initial run with WWE from 2007 to 2016. He shared a story about sitting in a rental car outside the crew bus that had photos of The Rock and John Cena, who were the top stars at the time. The frustration of constantly seeing their faces led him to throw a Yoo-hoo glass bottle against the bus, causing it to shatter.
Rhodes explained that he needed to leave WWE in order to release the pent-up frustration and regain control of his career. He also acknowledged that today’s WWE has a medical team that includes mental health services, which would have been helpful during his time there. He discussed the challenges of being Stardust in front of his wife and how he felt dead inside.
Looking back, Rhodes believes he made the right bet by leaving WWE and betting on himself. Today, he is a successful wrestler and has gained recognition as a top performer in the industry. He may not know why he was drinking a Yoo-hoo that day, but he knows that he made the right decision to leave and pursue his dreams.
