Drew McIntyre’s wish for separate WWE World Championships

Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion since Payback 2020, after defeating Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship and unifying the two titles at WrestleMania 38. He has been reigning supreme with both of these titles ever since.
In an interview with Scott Fishman for Pro Wrestling Illustrated, McIntyre was asked about his next goal. He made it clear that he wants to win a title in front of the fans, as his previous championship reign was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Although he stated that it would have been a great moment if he could have dethroned Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle, he also acknowledged Reigns’ successful reign as champion.
“I want to win a title in front of live fans,” McIntyre said. “I had it for 300 days with no one there. Clash [at the Castle] would have been an awesome moment if I was able to pull it off. Roman is having a lifetime run right now, and I’m curious to see where it goes. Ideally, the world titles will be separated and back on their respective shows, and back on live events everywhere. But you can’t deny what Roman has done with them and how he is representing WWE as champion.”
Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Sami Zayn at the WWE Elimination Chamber. Cody Rhodes is set to challenge for the gold at WWE WrestleMania 39.
